[five seconds of silence]

[sound of him clearing his throat] This is Shin Iseu-. Shin, by the way.

There is a pair of childhood sweethearts. The girl's mother died and so her father remarries to a beautiful actress. The step-mother is kind at first, but becomes cruel and greedy when her own children enter the family. The step-sister is cruel like her mother and the step-brother is a troubled boy who rejects the new life. The girl is abused by the step-mother and step-sister, but says nothing to her father, even extending a friendly hand towards the step-brother. The step-brother becomes the only person she can take solace in after her sweetheart goes off to study abroad.

The step-brother forms intimate feelings for the girl as the years pass. However, the girl is oblivious to these feelings as her thoughts are on her sweetheart, who is returning home. On the night that the girl and the boy promise to meet, the girl is hit by a car driven by her jealous step-sister. The boy assumes that she is dead and the step-sister gives the girl to the step-brother. She wants the boy, a wealthy heir, for herself.

The girl gets amnesia and the step-brother fabricates a new life for them to be able to love her regardless of social taboos. Years pass and the step-sister is now engaged to the boy. The boy, by chance, sees the girl on a carousel one night. He thinks it is his childhood love, but she denies it because of her amnesia. Nevertheless, he actively pursues her and eventually, the girl's memories return. The childhood sweethearts are reunited, the step-sister put into jail, and along the way, the step-mother goes insane and she is put into a mental institution.

It would be a happy ending there, but the girl develops eye cancer and becomes blind. Both the step-brother and boy volunteer to donate their eyes, but the doctors will not allow live donors. So, the step-brother pretends that he went off to Paris, but in reality, he commits suicide in order to give his eyes to the girl. The girl is able to see again, but the cancer worsens. She has a limited time to live and so spends those moments with her love. On a beach, the boy holds her as she dies.

People who love each other end up reuniting. No matter how far apart they are, they will reunite in the end. Love is something that returns.

[ Iseul is sitting on the front steps leading to the main entrance of Gekkoukan High. His chin is resting in the palm of his right hand and he looks bored as he watches the other students enter the building. There's an empty bag by his feet and he is obviously new to the school. It seems like he's looking for somebody with the ways his eyes roam over the passing students' faces, but he has yet to find whoever that somebody is. The majority of the students going in try to avoid him since his height and expression cause some intimidation, but Iseul hardly seems to mind. He glances quickly at his watch and resumes looking through the crowd even though he should probably be at the faculty office to get everything settled. Iseul doesn't mind, the matter of finding a new BFF seems to be of a higher priority. ]
